One event that combines the kid-friendly elements of outdoor fun and activities with the ability to drink is the Shamrock Shindig. Set for Sunday, March 13, along the waterfront at Pier Five, the event is set to run 10:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.

For the kids, the event has crafts and games, all within the friendly confines of a kids’ zone. The adults, meanwhile, can grab a wristband that allows unlimited drinking. Plus, they’ll have live Celtic music from the Shamrogues onhand.

The party at Pierce’s Park ends relatively early, but Sunday also happens to be the day of the city’s annual St. Patrick’s Day parade. The march steps off at 2 p.m., and heads from the Washington Monument to the corner of Pratt and Light Sts. So the Shindig will already leave you conveniently placed to stake out a spot.
