A new concert series celebrating soul, jazz, and R&B will debut at Pier Six Pavilion with monthly waterfront Thursday night concerts from July through October.
The inaugural โSoul on the Waterโ season begins on Thursday, July 16 with Go-Go Night featuring Black Alley, Backyard Band, and Hue. On August 13, Tank and the Bangas perform, September 10 has Chante Moore with special guest Christopher Williams, and the season finale happens on October 1 with Raheem Devaughn and Daley.
Produced by The Finn Group, the new series is a way to bring communities together through live music performances in a unique waterfront setting. The Finn Group created Jazzy Summer Nights, which ran for 25 years and welcomed more than 100,000 guests during its run. Soul on the Water will build on that legacy with a new experience for Baltimoreโs music lovers.
โSoul on the Water was created to celebrate the music, culture and community that have always been part of Baltimore’s story,โ said LaRian Finney, managing partner of The Finn Group. โFollowing the incredible journey of Jazzy Summer Nights, we saw an opportunity to create something new that honors that legacy while introducing a fresh waterfront experience. Soul on the Water brings together legendary artists, emerging voices and music lovers in a setting that reflects the spirit, creativity and energy of our city.โ
Finney also co-founded Afro Preak, a celebration of Black fashion and culture at Preakness, and the Baltimore MET Gala, which is celebrating its fifth anniversary this August.
The Finn Group operates and manages Pier Six Pavilion in partnership with Knitting Factory Entertainment, and the new series is meant to be a cornerstone of Pier Sixโs programming strategy: namely, to celebrate Baltimoreโs musical heritage and create opportunities for both artists and audiences.
