Record Store Day, a day of deals and specials for independent music sellers, is this Saturday. In anticipation, Billboard magazine rated the top record stores in the country, and Fells Point’s Sound Garden, where “5,000 people rifle through the shelves and stacks…on an average day,” made the list.
Sound Garden has always been such a go-to spot for cannibalizing a CD collection when one is low on funds that I forget that they also sell things there. (One friend of mine has whittled his collection down in just this way over so many years that the only albums he has left are those either too dear to part or too crummy to sell.) But luckily, not everyone is a semi-broke 30-something.
By the way, Sound Garden was listed among the top 13 record stores in the U.S., which means it’s got several whole states beat.
