According to the Maryland Comptroller, anyone who buys โ€œqualifying apparel and footwear $100 or less, per item,โ€ wonโ€™t have to pay state sales tax for a week.

The dates of the Shop Maryland event, which is designed to get people out and pumping money into the local economy, are August 9-15. The week also happens to come as back-to-school shopping ramps up.

Baltimore also has its own Buy Local initiative, which is happening at the same time. And Baltimore Restaurant Week, which offers a host of prixe fixe deals, was extended until August 9 at some eateries. Check out this list for more on where to munch.
