Starting Sunday, Clothes are Tax-Free in Maryland For a Week

catch of the day fish (2)According to the Maryland Comptroller, anyone who buys “qualifying apparel and footwear $100 or less, per item,” won’t have to pay state sales tax for a week.

The dates of the Shop Maryland event, which is designed to get people out and pumping money into the local economy, are August 9-15. The week also happens to come as back-to-school shopping ramps up.

Here’s the list of items for which you don’t have to pay sales tax.

Baltimore also has its own Buy Local initiative, which is happening at the same time. And Baltimore Restaurant Week, which offers a host of prixe fixe deals, was extended until August 9 at some eateries. Check out this list for more on where to munch.
