There’s a hole in Mt. Vernon this weekend. A “large section” of N. Centre St. collapsed outside the Walters Art Museum.
The collapse happened early Saturday morning in the 100 block of Centre St. As a result, Centre St. is closed between Park Ave. and Cathedral St. Power to the immediate area is also being cut.
In addition to the roadway, the collapse also damaged a water main, and could have also damaged a sewer line. No one was injured, and no cars were reported swallowed.
A cause hasn’t been determined. Baltimore’s Department of Public Works issued a statement saying BGE has been doing conduit work in the area.
