Top Stories: A Surprising Surprise Party, Sinking Boats in Fells Point, Dan Bell Profiled in The New York Times

Marion Winik’s tale of a well-planned, but nearly disastrous surprise party for her son was Baltimore Fishbowl’s most beloved read this week. In her August installment, titled “Surprise Party Surprise,” Marion effortlessly describes the complications that arose from trying to corral 25 or so of her son Vince’s best friends, hauling them up to Brooklyn, picking the perfect food, refreshments and desserts and, perhaps most importantly, finding the ideal spot for a party.

As it turns out, the perfect-sounding Airbnb that his girlfriend rented was too good to be true. (The supposed host wasn’t even real.) Luckily, the team of her son’s loved ones and friends pulled it off at the last second, finding a bar and an empty studio apartment to celebrate his 27th year of life.

Here were the nine other most-read stories from the last seven days:

Ask a group of Baltimoreans who has the best crabs in the city and there’ll likely be some disagreement, but ask about Biscuits, and there is no such room for debate. You’ll be directed under the highway to the downtown farmer’s market, and the Blacksauce Kitchen biscuit stand.

Blacksauce Kitchen Pop-Up Biscuit Shop at Trohv

If you frequent the Waverly or JFX farmer’s markets, you’ve likely seen the guys from Blacksauce Kitchen serving up some of the most enticing biscuitry (can we get a copyright on that word, please?) you’re likely to come across. This weekend, (just like their biscuits) Blacksauce will be popping up—on Sunday afternoon at Trohv in Hampden. The event is a trifecta  of sorts—gift-shopping, biscuit-nibbling, and coffee-sipping. Since you’ll surely be out and about this weekend finishing up the shopping, and since the Avenue is always a good bet for unique finds, be sure to stop by Trohv between noon and three on Sunday to get in on this special event.
