After a scare this week prompted by the good intentions of three strangers who thought they were “rescuing” Willow by taking him away, Monument City Brewing Company’s staff got their mouse-hunting colleague back on Wednesday. Now, as promised, they’ve put together a party just for him.

In Baltimore’s frustrating, worthwhile fight to keep trash and human waste out of city streets, parks and waterways, local breweries are stepping up to support the cause. Peabody Heights made its mark in the last couple years with two smartly branded brews to benefit the Healthy Harbor Initiative. And Southeast Baltimore’s Monument City Brewing is following suit this summer and fall, starting today with the release of a new double IPA–the first in a series of three–raising money for Trash Free Maryland and Blue Water Baltimore.

catch of the day fish (2)The folks over at Make Tribe are redefining the term “craft beer.” Next weekend, they’ll be offering a one-evening workshop at Baltimore Clayworks, where participants will create their own ceramic beer stein under the guidance of expert instructor Mary Cloonan. Monument City Brewing will also be on hand with samples of their newest ales. This is a great opportunity to learn all about beer-making, ceramics, and how awesome it is when the two come together. Not a common occurrence, for some reason.
