As part of a global celebration of Shabbat, Baltimore Jews will join more than 1000 cities and over 1,000,000 Jews worldwide to participate in the International Shabbos Project.
From November 6–November 12th, it is expected that thousands of Baltimore Jews will unite through activities leading up to, during, and after this worldwide event.

Community Sponsored Shabbat Through the Senses is an event for families with children ages 10 and under from all different backgrounds and traditions. Participants will experience Shabbat activities that will stimulate their senses and curiosity while creating meaningful Shabbat items. Feel and shape the challah dough, See the colorful Shabbat candlesticks, Hear Shabbat songs and melodies, and Taste the wonderful array of different Shabbat flavors.

The Great Challah Bake– Song, Spirituality & Sisterhood! Imagine the ENERGY and the POWER of 4,000+ Jewish women from all corners of Baltimore mixing it together. 6,000 lbs. of flour, 10,000 ounces of oil and 8,000 eggs, each participant will make 2 challahs from scratch (baked at home!) in preparation of Shabbat. Singing, dancing and new friendships are promised! Buses/discounted parked offered. Special options: Vegan, Gluten Free tables, Sign language interpreter.

Shabbat Community programs and meals, spanning across every denomination, every affiliation, and every label, are being offered. From “block party” style meals to classes and discussion groups to cross-denominational synagogue meals and worship, every member of the community will have the opportunity to make their Shabbat one to remember!

Community Sponsored One Day Havdalah Concert Featuring Matisyahu
Baltimore Shabbat Project aims to inspire unity and bring Jewish people together from all walks of live. We are pleased to have so many partnerships throughout the community to help bring this special event to light. With events including an LED light activity and Repair the World service project, the highlight of the evening will be a beautiful Havdalah ceremony led by Grammy nominated artist Matisyahu followed by a concert.
