The Ivy Bookshop is coming back to Mount Vernon Place, just in time for the Flower Mart and the Maryland House and Garden Pilgrimage.

After successfully operating a pop-up bookshop at Mount Vernon Place Church last fall and winter, operators announced on social media that the shop will return as a pop-up this month and stay until mid-June.

They promise a seasonal bookshop in the churchโ€™s front vestibule, interactive book displays throughout the sanctuary, lunchtime concerts and more.

โ€œWarm weather is coming to Mount Vernon and The Ivyโ€™s popping back up at the Green Church,โ€ they said on Instagram. โ€œWe canโ€™t wait to open the doors to this Mount Vernon treasure again.โ€

Owned by Emma Snyder and located at 5928 Falls Road, The Ivy Bookshop first opened a Mount Vernon satellite in December as part of an effort by new owners of the church at 2 E. Mount Vernon Place, a non-profit group called UNITE Mount Vernon, to activate it with programs and events that would show how it can be repurposed as a community hub.

Other activities by UNITE Mount Vernon included concerts, tours and lectures. One Grateful Dead-themed concert brought in 570 people and raised $50,000 for charitable causes, including preservation of the church itself. The Ivy Bookshop opened in time for the lighting of the Washington Monument in early December and stayed into January.

This time, the bookshop is opening on April 24 and staying until June 14. Hours of operation will be Thursday through Sunday, noon to 6 p.m. The shop will have extended hours on April 25, when it will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and May 1 and 2, when it will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The schedule means that the bookshop will be in place during the 2026 Mount Vernon Place Flower Mart festival, which takes place around Baltimoreโ€™s Washington Monument on May 1 and 2 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. both days, and the Maryland House and Garden Pilgrimage, which comes to Mount Vernon on April 25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Mount Vernon tour sponsored by the Maryland House and Garden Pilgrimage is a self-guided, ticketed event that offers access to 12 historic properties in Mount Vernon, including the โ€œWedding Cake Houseโ€ at 718 Washington Place (718 N. Charles Street); the Empire House at 9 E. Chase St.; the Ross Winans Mansion at 1217 St. Paul St. and Mount Vernon Place Church. Proceeds from the event will support the churchโ€™s restoration.

The 2026 Pilgrimage is also coming to Mount Clare and Southwest Baltimore on May 30 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  More information about its events is available at www.mhgp.org.
