October is going to be such a great month in Baltimore: not only will we be able to once again visit the Poe Museum, we’ll also be able to catch a movie at the Senator Theatre for the first time since last spring.
The movie theater has undergone an extensive renovation since it closed 16 months ago; perhaps new owner Buzz Cusack wanted to rearrange the feng shui to get rid of any bad vibes left behind by its previous owner. The movie house’s update included adding three screens, replacing seats, installing a restaurant, and restoring the art deco mural in the lobby.
The new Senator sounds a lot like another Cusack-owned movie theater we know and love, right down to the attached small-plates restaurant specializing in Mediterranean-style food. Another nice touch: Cusack told the Baltimore Sun that the first movie he’ll show on the grand opening night will be Hairspray. Senator, we’re glad you’re back!
