In the latest edition of a Baltimore celebrity falling victim to crime, 80s pop star and Johns Hopkins prof Thomas Dolby discovered his bike was stolen from a garage outside his Baltimore apartment building this week.

Dolby, who had a hit with “She Blinded Me with Science,” discovered the theft after returning to the U.S. from a trip to the U.K. He has little faith in police, but turned to social media to broadcast the news

On Facebook, Dolby said his bike wasn’t even that nice. The bike only cost him $75 on Craigslist. He recently had it fixed up at Joe’s Bike Shop in Fells Point. As a gesture to welcome Dolby to Baltimore, the mechanics didn’t even charge him for the repairs.

“The heavy chain and padlock were worth nearly as much (as the bike),” Dolby writes. “And the guy must know squat about bikes, because there is a slick carbon racer in the same bike rack that has to be worth thousands.”
