You may know Torrey Smith as that guy who caught that 59-yard pass that helped the Ravens defeat the Broncos (thereby setting the team up for its eventual win in the Super Bowl); but to Rep. Elijah Cummings, Smith is better known as the intern.
“As an athlete I feel like I always said, ‘Man, I can’t wait till I can just play football and I don’t have to worry about school,'” Smith told Ravens blog The Caw. “Now that all we do is work out and you have the rest of the day, I feel like I’m limiting myself if I don’t do anything else.” So for the month of March, while his teammates are busy dancing with the stars or being traded to other teams (sob!), Smith put on a tie and “handling files, reading letters, relaying them, typing up what sponsors say, printing stuff,” the wide receiver says.
If that isn’t enough to make you love the guy, just watch this video in which he and his fiancee encourage her students to do well on state tests:
I’m betting on a run for office around 2024.
