Towson University’s cheerleading team ought to be awesome nextspring, because between now and then all the 30-member squad will get to do is practice. That’s after the team declined to appeal their drastically reduced punishment for hazing, the circumstances of which we will likely never know.
Initially the Towson Tigers squad was hit with an unprecedented year-long ban on doing pretty much anything. They appealed to a committee of six faculty members and two students, which reduced the duration of the suspension to a single semester during which the cheerleaders are allowed to practice and added 650 hours of community service.
The team said they would not attempt a second appeal directly to the university president.
