Two drivers were killed in a collision on I-83 early Monday morning after one of the motorists drove in the wrong direction on the highway, police said today.

About 1:45 a.m., the driver of a 2002 Mercedes-Benz traveling north in the southbound lane struck a 2013 Infiniti head-on near the North Avenue exit.

Witnesses pulled the bodies of the Mercedes driver, 26-year-old Equanna Duncan of the 4200 block of Fernhill Avenue, and Infiniti driver, 51-year-old Walter Dunbar of the 2900 block of Independence Street, from their vehicles, police said.

Both were taken to an area hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

Detectives from BPDโ€™s Crash Team are still investigating the collision, police said.
