Erika Brannock and her mother, Carol Downing return to Baltimore - Erika lost a leg in the April 15 Boston Marathon bombings

Erika Brannock, the 29-year-old Towson resident and pre-school teacher who was seriously injured in the bombing at the Boston Marathon on April 15, will receive on Thursday a $10,000 check, thanks to  Valley Motors Subaru of Hunt Valley and Subaru of America, Inc. The two pledged $100 of support to the Erika Brannock Fund for each Subaru sold in the months of May and June. Brannock lost a portion of her left leg and suffered severe damage to her right leg in the explosion.

The dealership also set up a donation area in the showroom, along with a website to allow members of the community to join Valley Motors in showing support. Donations can be made online directly at www.subaruofhuntvalley.com/the-erika-brannock-fund.htm.

โ€œErika has been a very meaningful member of our community, one that Valley Motors has been a part of for more than 50 years,โ€ said Charles Fenwick, president of Valley Motors Auto Group. โ€œWe felt that it was important to develop a way to give back to the community and show our support for Erika, her family and her students while she is on a road to recovery.โ€

โ€œWe are truly touched by the outpouring of support shown by our community,โ€ said Scott Massengill of the Erika Brannock Fund. โ€œFor local businesses like Subaru of Hunt Valley to offer to helpโ€ฆit just goes to show the bond our community has and just how much of an impression Erika has made here.โ€
