Looking for some animal attraction in your life? Baltimore County Animal Services (BCAS) and Today’s 101.9 is hosting the second annual Santa Paws: Home for the Holidays adoption event on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and adoption fees will be waived for all available animals.
Even better, no worries about grandkittens or great-grandpuppies, since all pets adopted from BCAS are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. The shelter is located at 13800 Manor Road in Baldwin.
Today’s 101.9 morning show hosts Greg Carpenter and Gina Crash will broadcast live from the shelter, highlighting an adoptable pet each hour. Last year’s event resulted in furrever homes for 43 animals, and BCAS hopes to find homes for even more pets this year.
“Opening your heart and home to a shelter animal is a wonderful act of kindness,” said Baltimore County Executive Kathy Klausmeier. “With Baltimore County Animal Services continuing to see more pets come into its care, we’re grateful to Today’s 101.9 for encouraging residents to adopt, foster or volunteer. Every animal deserves a loving home.”
“Gina and I can’t wait to be back at BCAS for Santa Paws,” said Carpenter, Today’s 101.9 morning show host and program director. “Seeing so many pets find homes last year was something special. We’re inviting our listeners to come meet the animals and help us make this year’s event an even bigger success.”
The Santa Paws event will feature Baltimore County’s Adoption Express mobile adoption center and a variety of adoptable animals, including dogs, cats, kittens, and small companion animals.
Unable to adopt a creature long-term? No need to howl – BCAS staff and volunteers will be on hand to share information about fostering, volunteering, and other ways to support the shelter. As Baltimore County’s only open-admission animal shelter, BCAS relies on community support to help meet the needs of animals in its care.
“Last year’s Santa Paws event was an incredible success, with more than 40 animals finding their forever homes in just a few hours,” said Dr. René Varela, Bureau Director for Baltimore County Animal Services. “We’re hoping to build on that success this year and, with the community’s support, help even more animals find loving families. If you’ve been thinking about adopting, this is a wonderful opportunity to find your match while making a meaningful difference in the life of a shelter pet.”
