Voters across Maryland will visit the polls Tuesday to cast their ballot in the state’s primary election.
Many residents have already weighed in during the early voting period or through mail-in ballots.
So when will you know the results of the many political races taking place across Maryland?
All Maryland polling locations will be open Tuesday from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. Any voter in line at 8 p.m. will still be able to cast their ballot. After all of the state’s polling locations are confirmed to be closed, Maryland’s State Administrator will authorize election results to be released.
The first set of results that will be released will include all votes cast during the eight-day early voting period – which ran from May 2 to May 9 – as well as mail-in ballots that were canvassed before election day and any election day results that are available so far. Those results are subject to change as more votes are counted.
The Maryland State Board of Elections website will be periodically updated with election results as they are received.
All local board of election offices will resume canvassing mail-in ballots on Thursday, May 16, at 10 a.m.
Local board of election offices will begin canvassing provisional ballots on Wednesday, May 22.
The state elections board website will continue to update results during the 10 days after the election until all local boards have canvassed all eligible ballots and the results are certified on May 24.
