We here at Baltimore Fishbowl send our heartiest congratulations to Baynard Woods, managing editor of the Baltimore City Paper, who’s just hit the big time: His true crime book, Coffin Point, is going to be turned into a TV series. By Will Smith. Okay, by Will Smith’s production company, Overbrook. But, still!

Coffin Point recounts the true story of a Louisiana sheriff who also dabbled in voodoo. Think True Detective, but with more real-life complexity and less mumbo jumbo. The producers hope to turn the book into a series; it’s currently being shopped around to various networks and online services, according to Deadline.

The City Paper itself reacted to the news with predictable fond snark.
