The revamped Shops at Kenilworth complex in Towson will soon be adding a taco spot.
Felipeโs Mexican Taqueria Restaurant, a New Orleans-headquartered chain with seven locations across Florida, Louisiana and Massachusetts, has signed a lease for a 3,500-square-foot, freestanding building to be built in the mallโs lower half. Construction will start this spring and it would open sometime in early 2020, per a release.
The eatery bills itself as a fast-casual restaurant with authentic Mexican recipes, and equipped with a full bar that puts โa special focus on hand-squeezed key-lime margaritas.โ The business has expanded to new cities in recent years, including Boston and several in Florida. One reviewer for the Gainesville Sun, where Felipeโs arrived in 2016, wrote that itโs โseveral steps aboveโ more entrenched (and widespread) competitors like Chipotle and Moeโs, thanks to its full bar and โinnovativeโ selection of food. A quick glance at the menu indicates it offers burritos, tamales, tacos, tostadas, quesadillas and other Mexican staples.
The mall in Towson has recently been adding tenants, as reported by the Baltimore Business Journal. The mall underwent $30 million in renovations after being acquired by Greenberg Gibbons.
Mackenzie Real Estate principal John Harrington represented Felipeโs in the leasing deal.
