
Maryland reported 45 additional deaths on Friday, raising the state’s total number of coronavirus fatalities to 6,322.
There are also 172 deaths suspected to be related to coronavirus.
Currently, 1,848 Marylanders are hospitalized due to coronavirus, up slightly from Thursday with five more COVID-19 hospital patients.
Maryland has 1,427 COVID-19 patients in acute care, nine more than on Thursday, and 421 COVID-19 in intensive care, four fewer than on Thursday.
The state has hospitalized a total of 29,285 individuals with coronavirus since the pandemic began.
At least 320,739 Marylanders have tested positive for COVID-19, while 2,691,673 have tested negative as of Friday morning, according to the Maryland Department of Health’s COVID-19 Case Map Dashboard.
The state’s total number of confirmed coronavirus cases rose by 2,924, an increase of 0.92%.
Maryland has completed 6,352,475 coronavirus tests to date, with 54,416 test results reported in the past 24 hours.
Over the last seven days, an average of 8.3% of the state’s COVID-19 tests have come back positive.
The seven-day average rate of positive tests yesterday was 8.68% for Marylanders younger than 35 and 8.07% for Marylanders older than 35.
The state has distributed the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine to a total of 195,220 Marylanders, including 16,805 who received it in the past 24 hours.
Of the Maryland recipients of the first vaccine dose, 17,493 individuals have also received the second vaccine dose, including 1,653 people in the past 24 hours.
Gov. Larry Hogan on Thursday announced that Maryland will begin Phase 1B of its vaccination plan next week, expanding vaccine access to people age 75 and older; residents of assisted living facilities, group homes and other congregate living facilities; people who are considered “high-risk” in prisons and detention centers; teachers and other school staff; and child care providers.
As of 10 a.m. Friday, there have been 61,946 confirmed cases in Prince George’s County; 53,283 in Montgomery County; 43,403 in Baltimore County; 35,199 in Baltimore City; 29,358 in Anne Arundel County; 13,970 in Frederick County; 13,195 in Howard County; 10,306 in Washington County; 10,027 in Harford County; 7,022 in Charles County; 6,210 in Carroll County; 5,839 in Allegany County; 5,531 in Wicomico County; 4,267 in Cecil County; 3,998 in St. Mary’s County; 2,899 in Calvert County; 2,717 in Worcester County; 2,099 in Queen Anne’s County; 2,052 in Somerset County; 1,759 in Dorchester County; 1,689 in Garrett County; 1,608 in Caroline County; 1,458 in Talbot County; and 904 in Kent County, according to the dashboard.
Of Maryland’s confirmed cases, 15,076 are people age 9 or younger; 29,735 are people ages 10-19; 58,993 are people ages 20-29; 55,907 are people ages 30-39; 49,328 are people ages 40-49; 48,294 are people ages 50-59; 32,422 are people ages 60-69; 18,519 are people ages 70-79; and 12,465 are people age 80 or older.
Maryland has identified 168,266 of the confirmed COVID-19 patients as female and 152,473 as male.
Of the Marylanders who have tested positive for COVID-19, 90,919 are Black, 53,573 are Hispanic, 107,828 are white, 6,867 are Asian, 14,998 are another race, and data is not available for the remaining 46,554.
Nationwide, there have been at least 23,315,721 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States, including at least 388,725 deaths. The U.S. has conducted more than 273 million coronavirus tests to date as of 10 a.m. Friday, according to a real-time dashboard created by Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering.
