Baltimore’s food scene is buzzing this week, with all kinds of openings and events. Here’s a look at what’s coming up:

Openings and announcements

Peabody Heights Brewery’s fun new barcade space, The Dugout, opens on Saturday. Along with the launch of the new space, which features arcade and console games (and a bar with eight beers on tap), Peabody is launching a founders/mug club called Home Plate Club.

The new Harbor East steakhouse from Atlas Restaurant Group, The Ruxton, will open on Monday.

Catalog Coffee, the new venture from Chef Dave Sherman of Ground & Griddled fame, will open this week in Hampden. The opening marks Chef Sherman’s return to Hampden, where his former restaurant Café Cito was located (though the new spot is in a different location – right on the Avenue).

Thai food-loving city dwellers got some great news this week with the announcement that the beloved Thai Restaurant will reopen in Waverly. The restaurant closed in December after a real estate struggle in their original location, where they had operated for 43 years. The new restaurant will be located on the corner of East 31st St. and Greenmount Ave. and will open later this year.

Sadly, Zeke’s Coffee announced that its Pigtown location will close on March 3. The coffee shop opened that outpost about two years ago. It’s flagship location in Hamilton will remain open – and you’ll still be able to find Zeke’s coffee at restaurants and shops around the area.

Dylan’s celebrates 10

On Friday, March 1, Dylan’s Oyster Cellar is celebrating its ten years in business with a fun evening featuring some old favorites, like the house-cured sardines that were a staple in the restaurant’s early days as a pop-up in Mt. Vernon.

“She Did It” at Checkerspot

On Saturday, Checkerspot Brewing Company is kicking off Women’s History Month with an event honoring “impressive and inspirational women.” The “She Did It” event features a bunch of local businesses helmed by women, including the Hawaiian shaved company Crushed Velvet, florist Delicate Dirt, Milk & Ice Vintage, wines from Philosophy Winery, juices from Juicing with Jazz, and music from Callum Toner.

During the event, the brewery will also launch “Champagne Session,” a beer created in collaboration with Jesse Sandlin, the chef/owner of Sally O’s and Bunny’s Buckets & Bubbles.

Checkerspot has more Women’s History month plans in the works for later in March, too. Keep an eye on their social media for announcements.

Tequila at Magdalena

On Tuesday, Magdalena welcomes the team from Tequila Komos for a special tequila dinner. The menu, which will focus on Mexican flavors, includes multiple courses paired with tastings of a variety of different types of tequila.

Latkes at Gunther

Thursday, March 7 is National Latke Day – and Gunther & Co. has big plans. In addition to the regular dinner menu, the kitchen will be serving latkes along with a variety of Jewish favorites, like chicken livers and braised brisket.
