The opening of the new Roggenart European Bakery, Bistro and Café location in Mount Vernon next week isn’t the only thing that will be grand.

The grand opening celebration will take place April 24 at 11 a.m. in the City House Charles building at 1001 N. Charles St. Not only will it feature a ribbon-cutting, but also the ceremonial breaking of a giant croissant.
Will there be a huge napkin underneath the giant croissant when Nemen Popov, founder and CEO, and Brody Tennant, owner and partner of Roggenart, pull the pastry apart? There are layers to our questions. Make sure you don’t flake out and miss it, because during the celebration there will also be a deal where customers get $1 off for every $5 they spend.
“With a focus on unique dishes and European flavors, Roggenart’s menu features a delightful mix of artisan breakfast sandwiches atop buttery croissants, signature omelets, oven baked melts, cast iron pressed sandwiches, and more,” reads the announcement.

Sadly, Roggenart does not serve a proportionately sized coffee to go with the giant croissant, but we won’t get into a cinnamon twist about it. After all, there wouldn’t be six locations (with a seventh about to open) if the owners’ ideas were half-baked, so don’t roast them about it.
The Mount Vernon Roggenart will be open 7 days per week from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
