Single ticket sales have begun for “Some Like It Hot,” the Broadway song and dance spectacular that won four Tony Awards and one Grammy Award, and is coming to Baltimore’s historic Hippodrome Theatre at the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center in early May 2025.
The musical is based on the classic MGM film “Some Like It Hot”, named the “Funniest American Movie of All Time” by the American Film Institute. The movie starred Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and Jack Lemmon.
The plot is set in Chicago when Prohibition is the backdrop for two musicians witnessing a mob hit and forced to flee to avoid a similar fate. Gangsters are hot on their heels and the musicians catch a cross-country train bound for the trip of a lifetime involving new identities and the crises that accompany them!
“Some Like It Hot” won more theater awards than any show this season, and was named Best Musical by the Drama Desk, The Drama League, and the Outer Critics Circle. “Deadline” called it “a tap-dancing, razzle-dazzling embrace of everything you love about musical theater.”
The show’s book is by Matthew López (“The Inheritance” and Amber Ruffin (“The Amber Ruffin Show”). Music is by Marc Shaiman, lyrics are by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman (“Hairspray”), and direction and choreography is by Casey Nicholaw (“The Book of Mormon”).
Tickets are available at the BaltimoreHippodrome.com, Ticketmaster.com or in-person at the Hippodrome Box Office (12 N.
