On Sept. 11, the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, NAMI Howard County and The VA WAY will present a concert to elevate mental health support and awareness for veterans.
โBlues for the Braveโ is a one-night community concert bringing Marylandโs music community together to honor veterans and support their mental health. Attendees will be able to meet current Veteran Peer Support Group leaders and learn about how they might become future support leaders as the program expands from Howard County into Anne Arundel County.

National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) Howard County offers residents free mental health support, online groups, resources, and education. NAMI is the nationโs largest grassroots mental health organization, and the Howard County affiliate has been helping residents since 1979.
The VA WAY is a veteran-led nonprofit focusing on improving the mental health of veterans, members of the music industry, and their communities. Its mission is to connect veterans and music industry members to mental health trainings, resources, and events. Core offerings include Mental Health First Aid training, 988 education, Narcan training, and Veterans Peer Support programming.
The concert will be held at the Reckless Shepherd in Columbia, Maryland. Artists performing include The Kelly Bell Band, Deanna Bogart, and The Nighthawks. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the music will play until 11:30 p.m. Suggested attire is blue to stand in solidarity with veterans.
