Downtown Baltimore will see the opening of a new event venue, Charm City Palace, housed in the building where the former Savings Bank of Baltimore once was at the intersection of Baltimore and Charles streets.
The 15,000-square-foot event space will be located in a historic building known for its Greek architecture. Charm City Palace aims to cater to a variety of events including weddings, special celebrations, corporate affairs, fundraisers, and more.

The venue’s centerpiece is The William Rutherford Ballroom, named after owner David Couser’s great grandfather, Dr. William Rutherford Boykin, Sr. Boykin was a specialist in treating women, children, and babies, according to the Archives of Maryland Online. He had an office on North Calhoun Street.
“Dr. Wm. Rutherford Boykin, Specialist on Diseases of Women, Children and Babies, has won by his excellent ability, and most modern equipped office, the greatest respect and demand of all Baltimore and vicinity. We feel that too much cannot be said in praise of the Doctor, on account of his great sympathy for the poor, whom he treats without price,” reads an entry in the 1923-1924 volume of “The First Colored Professional, Clerical and Business Directory of Baltimore City, 11th Annual Edition.”
Bringing the past into the present while honoring family history, Charm City Palace will create a modern space for milestone moments.
“Our vision for Charm City Palace is to create a place where memories are made,” Couser said. “We take pride in our city’s rich history and aim to blend it with contemporary elegance to provide an extraordinary setting for our guests.”
Building on the architectural beauty, Couser plans to combine the historical significance of the Greek design with state-of-the-art amenities and accommodations. Adding a team committed to exceptional service and personalized attention would complete the picture, making Charm City Palace an ideal place to hold special occasions in the heart of Baltimore City.
The grand opening is slated for spring 2026. People interested in event availability can visit the venue’s website.
