Skateland patrons gathered Sunday to skate their final laps around the Overlea roller rink as it prepared to shut down after 48 years of business.

Parents guided their wobbly-footed children, teens laughed and leaned into each other, seasoned skaters danced and performed tricks, and skaters of all ages experienced a mix of joy and sadness as they bid farewell to their gathering spots.
