As summer winds down and we head toward Labor Day weekend, Baltimore restaurants keep on going, with festivals, special dinners, grand opening celebrations, and more. Here’s a look at the week ahead:
Openings & announcements
Candela Arepa Bar, the new venture from Alma Cocina Latina’s owners, is now officially open.
Flour & Wood is also now fully open to the public.
Hello Trouble, the new Hamilton spot helmed by Chef Andrew Weinzirl, soft opened last weekend.
Decatur Tavern is opening – for drinks only – on Friday, Aug. 28. The new spot’s opening hours will be limited but will soon expand – and food service will also be added soon.
The Market at Hamilton is celebrating its official grand opening on Friday, Aug. 28, with a ribbon cutting, samples, and lots of festivities. Plus, the market has just launched a monthly series, Tinned Fish Tuesday, that will take place on the fourth Tuesday of each month.
Nora Blu is also popping champagne for grand opening festivities on Friday and all weekend long.
Le Comptoir du Vin is taking an end of summer break from Aug. 31 through Sept. 5 – though the bottle shop will be open on Friday, Sept. 4 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Congratulations to Red Pepper Sichuan Bistro, which just marked seven years in business in Towson.
Sadly, Midlina and Poe’s Tower announced this week that they are closing.
ZaVino turns two
ZaVino Italian Marketplace in Cross Keys is turning two and celebrating with a terrific giveaway: one free pizza a week for a year for two lucky winners.

Ekiben Night Market
The Ekiben Night Market is back on Saturday and Sunday. The market, which takes place on the 1500 block of Thames St., includes tons of food and drink vendors – and it is always a huge success.
Anniversary at The Milton Inn
On Sunday, Aug. 30, The Milton Inn celebrates five years under its current ownership. The venerable restaurant is marking the occasion with an afternoon of drinks, passed bites, live music – and birthday cake.
Sunday Summer Throwdown & Seafood Feast
Also on Sunday, The Local Oyster is posting up at Monument City Brewing for a fun afternoon of seafood, drinks, and live music. Tickets are on sale now.
Cinghiale wine dinner
On Tuesday, Sept. 1, Cinghiale welcomes the owner and winemaker of Sori Paitin, a 230-year old Barbaresco vineyard. The evening includes four courses paired with Paitin wines, along with discussion and a guided tasting.
