Xin Ni: Right and Wrong Undone | Opening Reception + Performance

Thursday, November 5 :: 4-8pm
@ Bond Gallery, Goucher College

Goucher Art Galleries is pleased to present Right and Wrong Undone, a solo exhibition by Xin Ni exploring what happens when objects, gestures, and cultural meanings move between contexts—and the familiar systems used to interpret them begin to break down.

At the center of the exhibition is a new installation composed of brightly colored, translucent plastic forms suspended throughout the Bond Gallery. Drawn from objects associated with Chinese funerary traditions, the materials arrive folded and compact, then expand into colorful lantern-like forms when opened. Suspended from the ceiling, they transform the gallery into a shifting environment of color, transparency, and light. What may carry recognizable cultural associations in one setting becomes strange, decorative, playful, or illegible in another.

Globe Posters for the People | Opening Reception

Thursday, November 5 :: 5-7pm
@ MICA Pinkard Gallery

Globe Posters for the People celebrates the legacy of a Baltimore-based printing company that created accessible marketing for artists, performers, and ideas that challenged the early twentieth-century media landscape. Repurposing DayGlo—a fluorescent ink developed during World War II—for its silk screen and letterpress processes, Globe produced a new wave of showcard printing that featured high-contrast color and an iconic typography. From local and touring headliners, including James Brown, Salt-N-Pepa, and John Waters; to political campaigns, rodeos, and circuses, Globe’s posters brought the forces reshaping post-war popular culture to the people. Featuring selections from an archive of more than fifteen thousand collection materials, this near-centennial retrospective traces the evolution of Globe Press from its humble beginnings to its current incarnation as a teaching tool, a working press, and archival resource—Globe at MICA.

On View: October 26th – December 8th in the Pinkard Gallery (Bunting Center, Floor 1)

Minas Konsolas, Crowded Harbor (2025)

Minas Konsolas: Synchronicity | Opening Reception

Thursday, November 5 :: 6-9pm
@ Alchemy of Art

A Benefit for Fluid Movement

Join us at the Alchemy of Art for the opening reception of Minas Konsolas: Synchronicity.

This body of work serves as a visual exploration of the invisible ties that bind us. With a paint roller as his only tool, Konsolas aims to manifest the felt experience of these unexplainable connections.

Konsolas was born in Greece and has lived in Baltimore since 1976, where he graduated from the Maryland Institute, College of Art. Learn more about Konsolas and his work at minaskonsolas.com.

A portion of the proceeds from this show will benefit Fluid Movement, a fun-loving group of volunteer performers best known for their synchronized swimming. The opening reception will feature a land-based performance by the group.
