The 20th anniversary year of Cal Ripken’s record-breaking 2,131 consecutive games on the baseball field calls for celebration. In these days of craft brewers running small batches, Heavy Seas is bringing the beer.
In true Ripken fashion, the limited edition Fielder’s Choice is no-fuss, and it gives back.
The beer is an American Premium Lager, meaning it won’t have the bitter hop-bomb of an IPA or any other bells and whistles. In fact, it’s brewed in the same style as Miller Genuine Draft and Michelob, except there won’t be as much.
With each case sold, Heavy Seas will make a donation to the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation, which helps at-risk youth.
Heavy Seas will hold an official release party for the beer at its Little Italy tap room on July 30, and they’re planning to make the beer available at Camden Yards later this summer.
