The stadium, designed to reflect the city of Baltimore, continues to be an important gathering place for Orioles fans, including those who attended yesterday’s Opening Day game.

Designers used brick and steel to make Camden Yards blend in with the surrounding buildings, including the B&O Warehouse, which was incorporated into the park.

Camden Yards was the first of what they call “retro-classic” stadium designs. It served as an inspiration for similar stadiums like PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Petco Park in San Diego, and Target Field in Minneapolis.

The stadium has undergone plenty of changes over the years, and this year is no different. Among other things, fans who attend games this season will see a giant new scoreboard.

Gov. Wes Moore was there to unveil the new upgrades at Opening Day yesterday.

CNS was there to ask fans what makes the ballpark so special. Here’s what they had to say.

  1. The woman, who designed this wonderful stadium, was also on board to design the new Pimlico. But the Md Stadium Authority dropped her. SMH
