
As Maryland on Tuesday opened vaccine eligibility at mass vaccination sites to all Marylanders age 16 and older, the state has fully vaccinated a total of 1,149,976 residents to date.
Maryland’s fully vaccinated population represents about 19% of the state’s residents.
By April 12, the state will open vaccine eligibility at all providers to Marylanders age 16 and older.
Of the two-dose vaccines, Maryland has administered a total of 1,891,796 first doses and 1,051,502 second doses.
In the past 24 hours, providers have administered 21,226 first doses and 21,386 second doses.
Maryland providers have also administered single-dose vaccines to a total of 98,474 people, including 5,333 doses that were administered in the past 24 hours.
At least 419,055 Marylanders have tested positive for COVID-19, while 3,200,061 have tested negative as of Tuesday morning, according to the Maryland Department of Health’s COVID-19 Case Map Dashboard.
The state’s total number of confirmed coronavirus cases rose by 867, an increase of about 0.21%.
Maryland health officials on Tuesday reported 15 more coronavirus-related deaths, raising the state’s total number of COVID-19 fatalities to 8,192. There are also 186 deaths suspected to be related to coronavirus.
The state has completed 8,932,544 coronavirus tests to date, with 12,065 test results reported in the past 24 hours.
On average, 5.8% of Maryland’s COVID-19 tests over the last seven days came back positive.
The seven-day average rate of positive tests yesterday was 6.1% for Marylanders younger than 35 and 5.56% for Marylanders older than 35.
There are currently 1,204 Marylanders hospitalized with COVID-19, the first time that the metric has been above 1,200 since Feb. 12 when the state recorded 1,225 current hospitalizations.
Of the Marylanders who are currently hospitalized, 939 are in acute care and 265 are in intensive care.
The number of acute care patients climbed by 34 while the number of intensive care patients rose by five, marking a net increase of 39 more people hospitalized with coronavirus compared to Monday.
To date, Maryland has hospitalized a total of 38,548 people with COVID-19.
As of 10 a.m. Tuesday, there have been 79,087 confirmed cases in Prince George’s County; 67,375 in Montgomery County; 57,383 in Baltimore County; 45,967 in Baltimore City; 39,658 in Anne Arundel County; 18,479 in Frederick County; 17,641 in Howard County; 14,553 in Harford County; 13,444 in Washington County; 9,906 in Charles County; 8,469 in Carroll County; 7,156 in Wicomico County; 6,560 in Allegany County; 5,499 in St. Mary’s County; 5,473 in Cecil County; 3,953 in Calvert County; 3,429 in Worcester County; 2,745 in Queen Anne’s County; 2,501 in Dorchester County; 2,485 in Somerset County; 2,156 in Caroline County; 1,976 in Talbot County; 1,914 in Garrett County; and 1,246 in Kent County, according to the dashboard.
Of Maryland’s confirmed cases, 21,840 are people age 9 or younger; 41,389 are people ages 10-19; 76,771 are people ages 20-29; 71,775 are people ages 30-39; 63,018 are people ages 40-49; 62,985 are people ages 50-59; 42,376 are people ages 60-69; 23,639 are people ages 70-79; and 15,262 are people age 80 or older.
Maryland has identified 218,905 of the confirmed COVID-19 patients as female and 200,150 as male.
Of the Marylanders who have tested positive for COVID-19, 124,517 are Black, 9,936 are Asian, 147,166 are white, 65,261 are Hispanic, 19,713 are another race, and data is not available for the remaining 52,462.
Nationwide, there have been at least 30,786,606 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States, including at least 555,638 deaths. The U.S. has conducted more than 399.7 million coronavirus tests to date as of 10 a.m. Tuesday, according to a real-time dashboard created by Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering.
