Baltimore brewery Checkerspot Brewing Company was named the 2022 Samuel Adams Brewer Experienceship winner and will collaborate with the Samuel Adams beer company on a new brew.
The “experienceship” allows Checkerspot founders Judy and Rob Neff access to brewing and business resources from Samuel Adams experts, including their founder Jim Koch.
โWeโre coming up on five years in business, and I cannot think of a better way to celebrate,โ Checkerspot co-founder and brewer Judy Neff said. โWe just found a new โforever homeโ for the taproom and brewery, and with the Experienceship prize, weโre eager to expand our impact on the Baltimore community and beyond.โ
Last month, Checkerspot Brewing Company was among five breweries from across the country that gathered in New York City to showcase their signature brew and share their stories with judges. For the first time ever the deliberation was live.ย
At the end of the night, all attendees voted for their favorite and Checkerspot was crowned the winner.
In addition to a trip to the Samuel Adams Boston Brewery to participate in a collaboration brew day, Checkerspot will join Brewing the American Dream at the 40th annual Great American Beer Festival in Colorado.
The Baltimore brewery will also collaborate with Samuel Adams on a new brew that will be served out of both the Samuel Adams Boston Brewery and Checkerspot taprooms.
โWe were impressed by Judy and Robโs beer, but even more inspired by their story,โ Samuel Adams founder Jim Koch said in a statement. โTurning passion into purpose is what led me to create Brewing the American Dream. Checkerspot is a deserving brewery that truly appreciates the heart and science of beer and Iโm thrilled to share this experience with them at the Great American Beer Festival where I got my start as a brewer some 38 years ago. I can only hope this experience will put them on the same trajectory.โ
