Baltimore City will provide an additional $4 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds for nonprofits that have suffered economic loss due to COVID-19, Mayor Brandon Scott announced Friday.
“We’ve seen over the past two years the importance of our nonprofit partners in serving our communities throughout Baltimore City, and we know the devastating financial impacts of COVID-19 still continue,” Scott said in a statement.
The funding comes after two rounds of COVID-19 relief grant opportunities provided through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, totaling $11 million.
This round of grant funding, open from April 1-29, will be administered by the Baltimore Civic Fund.
“We know fantastic nonprofit organizations providing critical services are located throughout our city, and come in all sizes,” said HyeSook Chung, president of the Baltimore Civic Fund, in a statement.
The city aims to help nonprofits with costs such as rent, payroll, technology for employee telework, and expenses related to expanding outdoor services.
The first two rounds of funding reached 238 nonprofits throughout the city across issue areas such as homelessness and housing security, youth development, and food and wellness.
