A Baltimore County police officer was involved in an accidental shooting. Of himself.

The officer has not been named by the department, but according to WBAL he was engaged in a training exercise aimed at โ€œtest[ing] officersโ€™ ability to fire with accuracy within set time constraints and in various positions and circumstances.โ€ But when he pulled the gun from his holster, he accidentally shot himself in the leg. Heโ€™s currently in good condition at Johns Hopkins Bayview. Fortunately for him, the department uses frangible ammunition, not live rounds, during training.

In a week where the Baltimore City Police Department is under intense criticism after a damning Justice Department report, and barely a week after a county officer shot and killed Korryn Gaines in her Randallstown apartment, this training mishap is just the latest in a serious of problematic moments that range from the disappointing to the tragic.
