Weekend

Get Up & Go! Next Stop: Christmas

For those celebrating Chanukah, the celebrations and gift-giving are already well underway.  But this time next week, both Chanukah and Christmas will all be behind us, and most of us will likely be crawling out from under a wrapping paper and cookies coma with just a little sparkle left to get us through New Years. But donโ€™t let it all come to a screeching halt yet. The final weekend of holiday shopping has just begun.

If youโ€™re hoping to get in a couple of last craft fairs before the weekend is up, we suggest bounding out of bed and heading down to Silver Spring for the Fenton Street Market today from 9am-3pm. Plus, itโ€™s at an ice skating rink, so even if you donโ€™t do much shopping, the winter fun will still be in abundance. And for bargain hunters, St. Johnโ€™s Church (2640 St.Paul) is hosting Bmore Flea-โ€“ a flea market of crafts, antiques, curios, and everything else that makes for a great gift. Head down today for last-minute treasure hunting!

If youโ€™re looking for someplace new to hunt for treasures, swing by the brand new hot spot Thurston & Lovey in Hampden, Theyโ€™ve got antiques, home decor, and jewelry galoreโ€“ much of which youโ€™re unlikely to find elsewhere in town.

And while youโ€™re in the neighborhood, you of course wonโ€™t miss (sorry, but we just canโ€™t advocate for this one enough) the lights of 34th Street. If youโ€™ve already been there and done that, you can always spend Christmas Eve at the Senator Theater for a showing of the original Miracle on 34th Streetโ€“ a treat for the whole family. And certainly a great way to slow down after this final mad dash.
