Get Up & Go!
Well, if you’re lucky enough to have tickets to see the O’s play, clearly, that’s where you’ll be this weekend (and by the way, do you have an extra ticket?). The rest of us will just have keep busy some other way, like taking advantage of this weekend’s amazing shopping opportunities, Oktoberfest, and watching some good old fashioned pig racing. Hey, it could be worse.
If you do in fact want to kick off your weekend German style (that is, with some ale and sausage) head down to Das Best Oktoberfest and taste all the beer, wine, and schnapps you can handle.
If you want all the revelry but with fewer beers to choose from and more pig races to watch, hit up the 13th Annual Pigtown Festival. It’s super family friendly, with circus acts, pumpkin painting, and other non-beer-oriented activities all day long.
There are also trunk shows and sales galore—particularly in Mt. Washington, where they’ll be hosting the Mt. Washington Village Block Party on Sunday. Plenty of fall fun to be had for families, kids, and bargain hunters alike.
And for those looking to get out of the city a bit to see some of fall’s colors, you can head to Distillery Lane Ciderworks in Jefferson for their Explorers Festival. There will be lectures, bee-keeping demos, hard cider tastings, live music and more—all in a gorgeous farm setting.
