Artist Amy Sherald’s exhibit at the Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA) isn’t quite sold out after all.
After posting on the museum’s website that tickets to Amy Sherald: American Sublime were sold out through the end of the show’s run on April 5, BMA officials announced on Wednesday that the museum is adding tickets and hours so more people can see it.
“Due to unprecedented demand, the BMA is increasing the number of tickets available for the Amy Sherald: American Sublime exhibition beginning Saturday, Feb. 28, and adding more hours for BMA members,” the BMA said in a media advisory “Tickets for the exhibition have been sold out since Monday, Feb. 23. To date, 72,612 have attended or reserved tickets for Amy Sherald: American Sublime.”
According to the advisory, additional timed-entry tickets will be made available first to BMA members for 24 hours beginning at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, and ending at 4:59 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26. Tickets will then be made available for the general public beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, with a limit of four tickets per purchase.
Dedicated BMA Member Mornings will give early access to the exhibition for members on two Saturdays, March 14 and March 21, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
According to Anne Brown, the museum’s Senior Director of Communications, the museum was able to add more tickets by increasing capacity for every half hour the exhibit is open and by opening the exhibit early for BMA members on the two Saturdays In March. The changes will enable the museum to add tickets for roughly 5,400 visitors through the run of the show, she said.
Tickets for American Sublime are $18 for adults, $16 for seniors, $14 for groups of 7 or more, and $10 for students with ID. BMA members, individuals ages 17 and under, and student groups are admitted for free. More information is available on the museum’s website, artbma.org.
