A plain-clothes Baltimore police detective was shot after tracking a vehicle stolen in Federal Hill.
Baltimore Police Commissioner Kevin Davis told WJZ that officers and detectives โdid a fantastic jobโ of tracking down the stolen vehicle after it was carjacked without injury to its occupants on Wednesday. According to Davis, they deployed in Cherry Hill โbecause they know based on recent patterns and trends that carjacked vehicles have been taken to this area after carjackings.โ
As two detectives approached the stolen vehicle, one detective was shot in the wrist by an occupant of the car.
Update: Police now say the officer accidentally shot during an โaccidental dischargeโ of his own firearm, rather than by a suspect. None of the suspects fired any shots at the scene.
Police are searching for three suspects in the incident.
