Baltimore Trans Pride will make a return with a one-day event on June 29 to celebrate transgender, nonbinary and gender expansive communities.

The event is hosted by Baltimore Safe Haven, a Black trans-led organization. The theme is โ€œAlways Stay Sparkly,โ€ a catchphrase that pays homage to Meghan Lewis, a 53-year-old transgender woman who was shot and killed in Bel Air, Maryland in December. The celebration will also honor past transgender icons who laid the foundation for Pride celebrations.

Iya Dammons, founder of Baltimore Safe Haven, said it is important to fight for equality and acceptance of all individuals.

“I am excited to see our community come together at Baltimore Trans Pride, staying true to our unique identities and supporting one another,โ€ Dammons said.

The event will feature a grand march, block party, local and national musical talent, business vendors, and a youth and elder zone. Hip-hop artist KenTheMan will headline the event and Dominique Jackson, who played the role of Elektra Abundance in the television series โ€œPose,โ€ will make an appearance.

It will take place from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. on North Charles Street between North Avenue and 29th Street. The event schedule and full performance line up can be found by visiting www.baltimoretranspride.com.
