Every year, Wine Enthusiast scours the country for the restaurants that do the best job with their wine lists. This year, two Baltimore restaurants made the cut–and, to be honest, both are excellent choices.Woodberry Kitchen won accolades for its tightly curated wine list; while there aren’t a zillion options, each bottle on offer has been chosen to align with the restaurant’s food menu. And because that menu is constantly being adjusted to respond to what’s local and/or in season, the wine list changes a lot, too.
But if you’re a Baltimore foodie, you probably already knew all that. More exciting, perhaps, is the recognition of La Cuchara (not, as I always accidentally refer to it in my head, La Cucaracha), a Basque restaurant that opened in Meadow Mill last year. The restaurant offers inventive tasting flights of Tempranillo and sherry; if you want to get fancy, they offer a 50 percent discount on bottles over $100 on Mondays Sundays. And they’ve even come up with something for all of us non-meat eaters: a vegetarian tasting menu with wine pairings scheduled for next week.
So what are you waiting for? Drink up!
