Now that T. Rowe Price Group employees have begun moving into their new headquarters at Harbor Point, a large waterfront park is opening next to it.
Colin Tarbert, president and CEO of the Baltimore Development Corp., announced this week that a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on May 1 for Point Park, a 4.5-acre public space just west of the T. Rowe Price headquarters, featuring sweeping views of the city’s harbor and downtown skyline.

The T. Rowe Price building at 1307 Point St. is owned by a partnership of Beatty Development Group and Armada Hoffler Properties. Beatty is the master developer of Harbor Point, a 27-acre mixed-use community between Harbor East and Fells Point that includes Point Park. iO Studio, founded by Richard Jones, is the landscape architect.
The ribbon-cutting event will take place seven weeks after T. Rowe Price began moving approximately 2,000 employees into its headquarters. The park remains fenced off to the public for now, with signs warning “KEEP OUT” and “DANGER.”
Its primary feature is a large open lawn designed for active or passive recreation as well as for special events such as watching the Inner Harbor fireworks. On Friday, a crew was laying sod at one end of the park and otherwise putting the finishing touches on the area.
While members of the general public aren’t allowed to take full advantage of this new civic amenity just yet, Point Park already has daily visitors: a large flock of Canadian geese that are already making themselves right at home.

I am eagerly anticipating the opening. I hope that their is either available parking or public transportation to the park for visitors.
