Ben Carson was in the running for two Cabinet positions in the Trump administration. But when it came down to it, he decided he didn’t have enough experience for any post running that involves running a government department.
The retired neurosurgeon was rumored to be in the running for both Education secretary and Health and Human Services secretary. He’s pontificated in plenty of political settings plenty about policy topics that pertain to education and health, and made headlines . But in the end, Carson’s associate Armstrong Williams told The Hill that he didn’t think he was qualified.
“Dr. Carson feels he has no government experience, he’s never run a federal agency,” Williams said. He wouldn’t want to “cripple the presidency.”
This, of course, comes after Carson ran for president, a job that would put him in charge of all of the federal agencies.
