Election season is heading into full gear as the final month before the April 26 primary nears in Maryland. On the presidential level, Bernie Sanders’ campaign is getting more serious about the state.
According to WBAL-TV, Sanders’ campaign opened an office in West Baltimore on Tuesday. Former NAACP President Ben Jealous is chairing the state steering committee for the Vermont senator.
Sanders himself visited West Baltimore in December on a campaign stop, and a sizable march held to support his campaign started there earlier this month. The campaign also opened an office in Rockville.
Efforts to convince a majority of Maryland Democrats to Feel the Bern appear to face an uphill battle. A recent UB/Baltimore Sun poll showed Hillary Clinton had a 33-point lead in the state.
