The Towson location of Bill Bateman’s Bistro–the local sports bar chain known for its wings and pub grub–will close after dinner service on Sunday, the restaurant announced last night.

Opened 23 years ago, the restaurant is situated in a building owned by Towson University. Co-owner Tony Gebbia told the Baltimore Business Journal the location was not viable due to increased competition and the “current business environment.”

Bill Bateman’s has seven other locations in Maryland and southern Pennsylvania, two of which are carryout concepts called Bill Bateman’s Express. The first restaurant opened in 1987 on Harford Road in Parkville.
