The Patterson Park corner restaurant and wine bar Bistro Rx announced it is closing for a time as new owners take over the space.

Bistro Rx, which opened in 2010, will serve its last evening meal on Feb. 16 and only be open for brunch on Saturdays and Sundays after that.

“There are many positive things going on. It’s not just a closing; it’s a transition,” owner Wayne Mahaffey wrote on Facebook. “Some neighbors in Patterson Park have committed to reopening the doors full time in the spring with fresh ideas and a new feel.”

Mahaffey told the Baltimore Business Journal the new owners are eyeing a “complete rebranding” that they hope to launch by early April. He also told the paper that his eponymous Canton bar, Mahaffey’s Pub, shouldn’t be affected, but that “everything’s for sale — it just depends on the right price.”

In the Facebook post, Mahaffey promised specials on wine and other alcoholic drinks, besides the bottomless brunch specials, to “diminish my inventory.”
