Luxury salon Drybar will open its first Baltimore location in The Rotunda this summer.
The chain, which only offers blowouts and styling, is set to open its Baltimore shop in June 2021. The shop will offer 10 chairs and is expected to employ 20-25 professionals, including stylists and front-of-house staff.
“I am so excited to bring a national brand of this caliber to Baltimore,” said owner and operator Sana Abidi in an email to Baltimore Fishbowl.
“Consistent blowouts will no longer be exclusive to larger cities, and now the ladies of Baltimore will have a chance to experience Drybar magic,” she said.
Abidi decided to pursue a business venture of her own after watching her father build a family business in Hunt Valley, Maryland.
“Being around entrepreneurship from such a young age, I was drawn to the idea of venturing out on my own,” she said, “I love beauty and wellness and was looking for something in that space, so franchising with the Drybar brand was a natural fit.”
Drybar was founded by Alli Webb, who opened the first location in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles in 2010. The brand now has 141 independently owned and operated shops nationwide.
Webb, a longtime professional stylist, based the brand on the simple concept of offering and perfecting one service: blowouts.
The chain offers its own line of products, such as Big Swig Thickening Spray and On the Rocks Shampoo and Conditioner. Drybar’s products business was acquired by the consumer products company Helen of Troy for $255 million in January 2020.
Clients can purchase products and hot tools at all shops nationwide and online at https://www.drybarshops.com/.
Drybar Baltimore will be located in The Rotunda at 727 W. 40th Street, Suite 144, Baltimore, Maryland.
