It is now more than year ago that Vi Ripken, mother of baseball legend Cal Ripken Jr., was abducted at gunpoint in Aberdeen, robbed of her credit cards, driven around in her own car for a day, and eventually left with her hands bound in the backseat. And despite widely distributed surveillance footage of the suspect, the police still have nothing.

So Cal will be addressing the media this morning both to โ€œanswer questions regarding the abductionโ€ and to call on the public to offer any information they might have about the kidnapper. And he will be joined by Aberdeen police, the FBI, and even John Walsh, who used to host Americaโ€™s Most Wanted.

Vi Ripken, while resolving not to โ€œgo and hide,โ€ has become more fearful since the ordeal. She regularly finds herself thinking โ€œthoughts you shouldnโ€™t be thinking,โ€ she told the Baltimore Sun. The apprehension of her kidnapper might finally give her some relief.
