‘Tis the season for serious shopping – and there’s no place more filled with the holiday spirit than the streets of downtown Annapolis during Midnight Madness.
This year’s annual Midnight Madness extravaganza – two nights filled with shopping and celebration – will take place on Thursday, December 4th and Thursday December 11th. Both nights, the shops in historic Annapolis will stay open until midnight and downtown will sparkle with festive music, entertainment and activities. With performances from local choruses and bands, a majestic tree and gorgeous decorations sponsored by Sheehy Lexus of Annapolis, the mood downtown would put a holiday smile on even the Grinch’s face.
Santa will be on hand for visits and there will be seasonal photo ops galore, plus complimentary gift wrapping and a raffle for the WRNR-sponsored “Rockin’ Stocking,” which includes more than 45 gift cards worth at least $50 each (a total of over $2,500 in gift cards).
Plus, find special sale prices at certain shops up and down Main Street – and beyond. Wander around to find Naptown’s hidden gems, from the dock to the narrow lanes off the main drag. Don’t forget to stop by the quaint shops on Maryland Avenue for antiques, books, specialty foods and – if you’re ready for a break – a pint of Guinness. In Annapolis’s shops, you’ll find everything from fine art to quirky nautical objets – it’s the perfect place to stock up for even the toughest customers on your holiday list.
This year, why not make a night of it? Gather some friends and take advantage of the special Midnight Madness deals offered by some of the town’s premier hotels, so you can shop right up until the last minute. Start the night with drinks and dinner at one of Annapolis’s great restaurants then shop, shop, shop before heading to your room for the night. In the morning, enjoy a leisurely brunch and a last stroll by the water before heading back home.
With free metered parking and the Circulator Trolley providing free rides from parking garages and throughout downtown, getting downtown – and back out again – is as easy as can be.
