Checkerspot Brewing Company will celebrate its one-year anniversary at its new location, 1421 Ridgely St., on Sept. 14.

โ€œA Year Worth Tapping Intoโ€ will be hosted by Checkerspot Brewing and coincide with the release of a special beer in collaboration with South Baltimore Brewery District co-founders, Pickett Brewing and Wico Street Beer.

There will be a special celebratory menu from the kitchen and The Local Oyster will have a pop-up. Live music will be provided by They Wear Chucks and The Dive Bombs. Attendees will be able to tour the brewery at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Checkerspot Brewing Companyโ€™s owners Judy and Rob Neff won the Samuel Adams Brewing the American Dream contest in 2022. Brewing the American Dream is a range of philanthropic programs supporting small businesses across the nation. Each year Samuel Adams selects one brewery to collaborate with and learn from Samuel Adams experts at their Boston brewery.

The collaboration and mentorship do not only last for one year. Called โ€œThe Brewer Experienceship,โ€ Judy Neff told Fishbowl in May 2024 that the mentorship is ongoing.

โ€œWe probably touch base with them once a month or so,โ€ she said. โ€œItโ€™s been really, really awesomeโ€ฆ. just being able to ask questions, but also just [form] all these really cool relationships with people that you never thought your paths would ever, ever cross.โ€

The special new beer being released at the โ€œYear Worth Tapping Intoโ€ celebration is not part of the Samuel Adams โ€œBrewer Experienceship,โ€ but with fellow local South Baltimore Brewery District co-founders.

The party kicks off at noon and goes until 10 p.m. There is free onsite and street parking. Like some previous Checkerspot parties, this one is also pup-friendly!
