James Beard award-winning Chef Michael Mina will visit Wit & Wisdom — his Baltimore Restaurant at the Four Seasons Baltimore — this coming Sunday and Monday, December 7-8. In honor of his visit, the restaurant will serve a special five-course tasting menu highlighting some of Chef Mina’s classic dishes such as his famous Caviar Parfait, Maine Lobster Pot Pie and a hearty Prime Steak Rossini. The menu is listed below. I’m so happy to see his Ahi Tuna Tartare on the menu, as well. I just had it a few weeks ago, but honestly, it doesn’t matter. It’s perfect.

I had the pleasure of dining with Chef Mina last year at Wit & Wisdom and was impressed with not only his cuisine, but also his approach to food and hospitality. Warm and engaging, yet focused and professional is how I’d describe him. He’s a fiercely loyal person who inspires the same from his team, and he’s a family man and a hard worker. He is clearly doing what he is meant to do – and he is immensely talented.

When Wit & Wisdom opened three years ago, some in Baltimore were unaware of Michael Mina’s long list of accomplishments. Here are a few:

James Beard Foundation “Who’s Who of Food & Beverage” inductee in 2013
Gayot Restaurateur of the Year 2011
Food Arts Silver Spoon Award winner May 2011
Bon Appétit Chef of the Year 2005
San Francisco Magazine Chef of the Year 2005
International Food and Beverage Forum’s Restaurateur of the Year 2005

Chef Mina is a huge San Francisco sports fan and recently opened Bourbon Steak Santa Clara at Levi’s Stadium. Whenever I see photos from the Mina Tailgates, he just looks so darn happy. Next up is Locale Market opening in December in  St. Petersburg, Florida. The man never stops moving. He’s constantly looking for ways to be innovative, lifting his chefs up all along the way. I really admire that.

For this special visit, Wit & Wisdom is also offering a 30 percent discount to hospitality industry folks in Baltimore, and since this is on Sunday and Monday night, I hope some will take advantage of such a nice discount. I, for one, am looking forward to a nice night out! #fancypants
